—Swami Chidananda—
Every year an I.C.S. officer Sri Pannalal used to visit Gurudev (Swami Sivanandaji) for paying his respects. Gurudev gave him great regards. Once he came to meet Gurudev. After the interview was over both of them got up to go. When Sri Pannalal stepped out, his peon was somewhere away. In those days, such a high officer would not stir out without a peon. The peon used to assist him in putting on the shoes. So he was nonplussed by his absence. He was looking for him this side and that side. Gurudev immediately sized up the situation and promptly himself took the shoes of Sri Pannalalji and placed them at his feet.
These are living lessons of absolute egolessness. Here is an I.C.S. officer coming here to have Gurudev's darshan and get some wisdom. All that Gurudev fulfils. When it comes up, he is the servant of the servant of the servant of the servant of the Lord's feet.
