VEGETABLES/ FRUITS AND HEALTH

    1. Beans, tomatoes, potatoes, radishes, carrots, cucumbers, drumsticks, green leafy vegetables are all nutritious foods.


    2. Tomatoes, carrots, lemons, a little ginger, a little coriander leaves, a little fresh ginger and curd form a very good healthy combination. This combination is a good appetizer.


    3. Carrots beautify the skin. They improve appetite and the quality of the blood. Take it raw.


    4. Lemons contain vitamin C which is necessary for general good health. Vitamin C also acts against scury and stops bleeding from the gums. The juice of one lemon with two tablespoons of honey should be taken as the first thing in the morning.


    5. Spinach is a healthy and wholesome green leafy vegetable. It contains iron which improves the quantity and quality of the blood.


    6. Tomaoes contain all the vitamins. They also contain a lot of iron. They stimulate the action of the liver and the kidneys. They are the most effective blood-cleansers known to man. They also cure constipation. Cooking particularly destroys their vitamin content. Therefore they should be eaten raw.


    7. Every kind of fruit contains valuable vitamins and minerals which are essential for health and growth.


    8. Bananas are very nutritious. They promote growth, increase vigour and add flesh to the body. Fully ripe bananas act as laxative and can be taken at bedtime to have free movement of the bowels in the morning.


    9. Mangoes are very useful in rheumatism.


    10. Orange juice mixed with fresh grape juice makes a very good tonic. This is very useful in rickets, anaemia and general weakness.


    11. Papaya contains papain which digests food rapidly.


    12. Pineapple is very beneficial in case of enlargement of the spleen.


    13. Dried fruits have high nutritive content. Nuts are among the most nutritive of all foods.
