Treat Others As Yourself

—Sri Swami Sivananda—

There are three kinds of buttermilk.

One kind is very watery buttermilk.

This is given to servants.

Another kind is slightly thick.

This is given to strangers.

The third kind is slightly thicker.

This is distributed among the members of family, friends and relatives.

Another kind is the best buttermilk.

It is like curd and contains butter also.

It is drunk by the master of the house.

Similarly man distributes watery tea to servants.

He gives a little better tea to his friends.

He takes the best tea for himself.

He closes the door when he takes the tea.

This is the play of selfishness.

O children ! This is not good.

Give the best things to servants and others.

Treat them like yourself.

Love them as you love yourself.

This will expand your heart

And give you happiness.
