Worship of parents is equal to worship of God. Goddess Parvati, mother of Ganesha and Subrahmanya. Kept a nice fruit in front of them and said, “He who goes round the world and comes first can take this fruit”.
Subrahmanya sat on his peacock and drove fast to make a round around the world. Ganesha went round Lord Siva and Parvati thrice and demanded the fruit. Parvati gave the fruit and Ganesh ate it.
Subrahmanya came after three days going round the world and found that Ganesha had eaten the fruit. It was then that Subrahmanya realised the glory of parents-worship.
