Never hurt anybody

Never hurt anybody. Do not injure anyone in thought, word and deed. Control anger by love, forgiveness and compassion.  Sri Swami Sivananda

Commentary: by Swami Chidananda

Do not injure any living being or any creature. This is known as Ahimsa. The person who takes this vow declares: “From me there shall come no injury, no pain, no suffering or destruction to life in any form.” This means that either through your thinking or through your words or through your actions you will not injure or hurt anyone. You will not bring pain or suffering to anyone—not only to your fellow human beings but to all forms of life. This is a noble expression of your higher nature. You should make a resolve not to cause any pain or suffering to anyone; not to cause any unnecessary sorrow to any person; to make your speech soft and peace-giving and to make your actions conducive to the good of others. You should always think well of others. You should set your mind on the thoughts of goodwill, peace, affection, sympathy, kindness, friendliness, forgiveness, brotherhood, oneness and unity. As are the thoughts, so are the actions and speech.
