Pattu was an atheist. Kittu was a theist. (An Atheist is one who does not believe in the existence of God. A theist believes in the existence of God.)
Pattu asked Kittu, "You always speak of God. You do Kirtan and Japa. You offer Him flowers. Where is He?"
Kittu replied, "He is everywhere. He is in your heart. He is in all creatures."
Pattu said, "Kittu, show me your God."
Kittu beat Pattu with a stick and said, "Show me your pain."
Pattu replied, "I cannot show you my pain but I feel it."
Kittu said, "So is God. You will have to feel Him through Japa. I can't show Him."
Pattu became a theist that moment.
